WrestleMania 41: Cena wins record 17th WWE title

Las Vegas, NV – The record-breaking 63 thousand WWE Universe at Allegiant Stadium witnessed history, as WWE pro-wrestling veteran and Hollywood actor John Felix Anthony Cena successfully won the record-breaking seventeenth WWE title of his career by ending 370-day reign of outgoing champion Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania XLI on Sunday night (April 20). During the match, Cena used multiple times of his signature move called Attitude Adjustment to beat Rhodes for the title.

Cena, who's known for his roles as Jakob Toretto in the Fast & Furious film series and Peacemaker in DC Universe's Suicide Squad franchise, thus surpassed Ric Flair's 16 WWE titles. Cena last won the title eight years ago in 2017. Cena also became one of WWE pro wrestlers to win 17 WWE titles in three different decades, spanning from his first title triumph at WrestleMania 21 in 2005.

Cena is not the only one on WrestleMania 41 Sunday to dethrone past champion; Lyra Valkyria and her returning fellow Irishwoman Becky Lynch also made changes in WWE Women's Tag Team title by defeating the past champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in the title fight. Initially heading to the match, Valkyria was partnered with Bayley, however, Bayley suffered injuries the night before the match, thus Bayley was being replaced by Lynch who returned from injury and join her fellow compatriot Valkyria to beat Morgan and Rodriguez for the title.

Previously on Saturday night (April 19), Jey Uso defeated champion Gunther to win the World Heavyweight title from Gunther.

Meanwhile, the WWE Women's title is still defended by 25 year-old sensation Tiffany Stratton after defeating the Royal Rumble winning contender Charlotte Flair. Japan's women's world champion Iyo Sky also successfully defended the title from underdog contenders Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

Other title changes occured at WrestleMania, whereas Bloodline's Jacob Fatu won the U.S. title from LA Knight on Saturday, while Judgement Day's Dominik "Dirty Dom" Mysterio won the intercontinental title in a fatal-four-way process on Sunday. Also on Saturday evening, The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) won the world tag team titles for the first time in four years by defeating The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar).
