Pros and cons of buying new PS5 Pro and how it compared to PS4 Pro

The new PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) is the high-end and top-of-the-line variant of the PlayStation 5 series which released by Sony worldwide on November 7, 2024. Different to its lower variants the regular PS5 (which released on January 2021) and PS5 Slim (released in 2023), the new PS5 Pro features an all-new 8K gaming experience, thanks to a deep learning-based image upscaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which produces a 45% faster GPU clock speed than a regular PS5 or PS5 Slim. The price at launch was US$699, however due to economic impacts from recently ongoing Iran-Israel-United States war in 2026, the price for PS5 Pro became increased to US$899, making it the most expensive ever gaming console to date. Here are the reason why we want (or won't) buy PS5 Pro.

1. Pros and cons
- Pros and advantages
The new PS5 Pro is the most highly advanced gaming console ever with an 8K gaming experiences and faster GPU and CPU clock speeds than its regular PS5 and PS5 Slim. Gaming experiences are seamlessly intergrated with a 2TB internal storage and a improved DualSense controller, as well as the new faster Wi-Fi connection for more seamless online gaming and media streaming such as YouTube, Netflix and Spotify.
- Cons and disadvantages
The PS5 Pro is the most expensive gaming console of all nine generations to date, pricing at US$899 as of April 2026 due to ongoing Middle East wars and crisis. It also produced more noises than regular PS5 and PS5 Slim due to higher GPU and CPU clock speed processing while playing a game. It also sometimes continually lagged or suffered error bugs during gameplay. At 390W, the PS5 Pro is the only gaming console in recent (8th and 9th) generation with most electricity power consumptions.

2. Comparison with PS4 Pro
The PS4 Pro is still the most enjoyable game console despite its discontinuation in 2021.

PS5 Pro has all similar seamlessly gaming experiences with its previous predecessor PS4 Pro (the high-end and top-of-the-line variant of PlayStation 4 series which turned 10 in 2026 since launched in November 2016), however PS5 Pro which have more grapchical improvements, 1TB more internal storage, and faster GPU and CPU clock speeds than PS4 Pro, didn't have DVD disc drive that PS4 Pro has. Many PS4 games you played on PS4 Pro can also being played on PS5 Pro, so you don't need to play them on PS5 Pro if you already have owned PS4 Pro. Both PS4 Pro and PS5 Pro have the boost mode, for enhanced immersive gaming experiences while playing at higher frame rate speeds up to 60 FPS.

So do you still prefer playing PS5 Pro than PS4 Pro or vice versa?
