Although currently being single after being queer, singer-songwriter and actress Dove Cameron has had experienced her romantic relationships with her fellow Liv & Maddie star Ryan McCartan and fellow Descendants star Thomas Doherty. And here are timeline of Dove's relationship with her two ex-boyfriends!

1. Ryan McCartan
Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan star together on the Disney show, Liv & Maddie as Digbert Smalls, Olivia and Madison Rooney, respectively. On April 14, 2016, the two got engaged but they called off their engagement on October 2, 2016 and McCartan confirmed on the 5th that they had split up. - Relationship timeline
Cameron and McCartan first met when the latter was auditioning for the role of Diggie Smalls. They began officially dating August 6, 2013.

On September 2015, the pair announced that they were starting a band called The Girl and The Dreamcatcher and their first single was going to be called "Written In the Stars". Soon afterwards they released the original songs "Glowing in the Dark" and "Someone You Like".

On April 14, 2016 McCartan announced on Instagram that the two were engaged, stating "Dedicating my 1,000th post to my fiancée. I can't believe I get to call you that. Thanks for saying yes." Cameron also posted a photo of them together confirming their engagement; "calling you my "boyfriend" never really felt right anyway. fiancée looks better on you".

- Breakup
On October 2nd, 2016, McCartan unfollowed Cameron on Instagram and Twitter, as well as unfollowing her (Cameron's) mother, Bonnie Wallace Cameron, on Instagram. Both Cameron and McCartan removed any references to "The Girl and The Dreamcatcher" from their Twitter and Instagram bios. This started speculation among fans that the couple had broken up, and on October 5, 2016, McCartan confirmed that they had. Since the breakup, Cameron has said that McCartan was terrible to her and that she is happy their relationship is over.
"I love her (Cameron) to death, there's a lot of love there. Ya know, she made a decision that because I love her, I have to respect and ya know....she was there for me when we were filming [The Rocky Horror Picture Show], we were still together so I hope she's feeling this energy right now, because it's all happening, here we are." said McCartan during his interview after his breakup with Cameron.

Cameron then dated with her fellow Descendants star, actor Thomas Doherty from December 2016 until October 2020, while McCartan is dating actress Samantha Fekete since October 2017.

However in 2020, speculation said that Cameron was expecting child on her relationship with Doherty, in which Cameron denied the rumor and stated that she's not pregnant. The rumor led the couple into the split and they're officially broke up and ended their relationship in October 2020. As a result, Cameron is currently single, while Doherty is dating Yasmin Wijnaldum since March 2021. Doherty was also in relationship with Fast & Furious and Charlie's Angels star Nathalie Emmanuel while filming The Invitation.

Besides of McCartan and Doherty, other boys who were in relationship with Cameron were her Liv & Maddie co-stars Lucas Brentley Adams and Jordan Fisher. Following her breakups with McCartan and Doherty, in 2022, Cameron released her chart-hitting single "Boyfriend" which she wrote the line "I could be a better boyfriend than him", meaning that Cameron is bisexual and dating with both men and women. Later in 2022, Cameron released her next singles "Breakfast", "Bad Idea" and "Girl Like Me". The success brought Cameron to win best new artist at 2022 Video Music Awards and 2022 American Music Awards. The singer had previously released her singles from 2019 to 2021 such as "Waste", "Out Of Touch", "We Belong" and "LazyBaby", which removed from music platforms following her success with "Boyfriend".
