New Lexus LX 2022 specifications and details for Indonesian market
JAKARTA – Lexus Indonesia (luxury division of PT Toyota Astra Motor) officially launched its new generation of flagship SUV, the new Lexus LX early in July 2022. The new LX comes with a newly bold and striking body design, as well as more powerful engine than its predecesor. The new Lexus LX being sold in Indonesia are regular LX 600 and fully-featured LX 600 VIP.
- What's new?
The new LX is perhaps all new in both inside out. On the inside, the interior is completely more different than its predecesor. The new high-definition infotainment system is now completed with Apple Car Play and Android Auto (connected with your smartphone; so you can easily play your favorite songs with Apple Music and Spotify), as well as rear-seat entertainment (LX 600 VIP). In terms of safety driving, the new LX is equipped with its new safety package which includes lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, front and rear parking cameras, side sensors both front and rear (to avoid collision with other vehicles/objects), etc.
The exterior design maybe a little similar or techincally based on the new Toyota Land Cruiser J300 which launched in January.
The engine has also got some more significant changes than the predecesor. The new Lexus LX 600 is powered by 3,5 liter twin-turbo petrol engine which generates 409 hp and 650 Nm (the same engine as petrol Land Cruiser); 45 hp more powerful than the previous generation LX. The new LX 600 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h by just at least 7 seconds, two seconds faster than its predecesor. The engine is mated with its 10-speed automatic transmission, which gives smoother and more efficient driving in terms of fuel economy. The new LX 600 is also capable for all-terrain driving, thanks to its new AWD modes: dirt, rock, sand, mud, snow and auto. (Auto mode will automatically helps the vehicle to drive in all road conditions including road-flooding, desert/sahara driving experience like most Jeep and Land Rover's Range Rover cars, etc)

By the time this article created, Lexus Indonesia aren't yet to announce the price for the new LX. It will be priced at least Rp. 3-4 billion with some additional luxury car taxes for cars within more than 3 liter engine capacity. The new Lexus LX 600 VIP is the main competitor to the new Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, BMW X7, Land Rover Range Rover, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Cadillac Escalade in luxury full-size high-end SUV segment, and prove that the Asian automotive industry continues to keep stronger and more competitive against the Europeans and Americas.
- New Lexus LX vs. Toyota Land Cruiser variants
PT Toyota Astra Motor and its Lexus division marketed both Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX for Indonesian market in different variants. The new Land Cruiser (J300) is available in two variants: luxury-oriented VX-R and sportier GR-Sport; both powered by 3,3 liter twin-turbo diesel engine that generates 303 hp; while the new Lexus LX 600 (J310) is also available in two variants (both powered by 3,4 liter twin-turbo V6 petrol engine which generates 409 hp): the regular base model and the more fully equipped high-end luxury VIP model.
