History in the making - Lewis Hamilton's 100 Formula 1 race wins by the numbers

Lewis Hamilton has achieved one of the greatest milestones in his career after winning his 100th career Grand Prix race at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix. And ahead of his journey to win his eighth world title, here are the numbers and facts behind Hamilton's 100 F1 race wins!

1. Largest margin (1 minute 8 seconds)
Hamilton won the 2008 British Grand Prix by 68 seconds over Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber) in 2nd place in a rainy, wet and extremely difficult track conditions around Silverstone Circuit.

2. Most wins in a season (11 wins)
Hamilton has won 11 races in a season enroute to his world title triumphs in 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019. After joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton scored an average nine wins per season, while during with McLaren (2007-2012) he scored an average three wins per season.

3. Most wins in a single constructor (79 wins)
His victory at the 2021 Russian GP became his 79th win since joining the Silver Arrows in 2013. Hamilton's other 21 wins were achieved when he was raced for McLaren from 2007 until 2012.

4. Most wins in a single Grand Prix (8)
Hamilton became the most winning driver at Hungarian and his home race (British Grand Prix) for eight times in his career.

5. Race win denied by a penalty
At the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix in Spa Francorchamps, Hamilton battled title rivals Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa throughout the race. However after Massa pitted, Hamilton and Raikkonen went only battled themselves for the lead in the final three laps before Hamilton collided Raikkonen out of the race, securing Hamilton's what could had been ninth win in his career (his fifth of the 2008 season); however his victory was lasted just two hours later after the stewards assessed Hamilton a 25-second time penalty for causing a collision. As a result of his penalty, Hamilton still remained on the podium, demoted into third place with title rival Massa winning the race.

6. Most wins by any driver by nationality
Hamilton's 100th win (or Lando Norris' 1st win) at 2021 Russian Grand Prix became 304th race win by any British driver who competed in FIA Formula 1 world championship since its inception in 1950. Had to win his first Grand Prix race at Sochi, Norris would became the 20th British winner in F1 history.

7. Most wins in any different Grands Prix and circuits

Hamilton has won at a record 28 out of 33 different Grands Prix he has competed in. The 70th Anniversary Grand Prix (2020), the Dutch Grand Prix (2021-present), the Korean Grand Prix (2010-2013), the Indian Grand Prix (2011-2013) and the European Grand Prix (2007-2012 and 2016) are the five races he has not won.

Hamilton has won at a record 29 out of 34 different circuits he has driven at. The Buddh International Circuit (India), the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours (France), Circuit Zandvoort (Netherlands) (2021-present), the Korea International Circuit (South Korea) and the Valencia Street Circuit (Spain) are the five race tracks where Hamilton has not achieved a Grand Prix victory at.
