2022 Formula 1 season's silly drivers' market
With Kimi Raikkonen announced his retirement from his Formula 1 racing career, Alfa Romeo Racing have announced that Raikkonen's fellow Finn driver Valtteri Bottas will replace the 2007 Formula 1 world champion for the 2022 season. Bottas (32) will accompany his Italian teammate Antonio Giovinazzi who signed a multi-year deal with Alfa Romeo until 2023.
- Russell joins Hamilton at Silver Arrows next season
Following Bottas' departure from the team, Mercedes announced that George Russell will make his full season debut with the Silver Arrows, joining seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton who will retire his career at Mercedes in 2023. Russell made his debut with Mercedes at last year's Sakhir Grand Prix, where he finished 8th in the race.
As Russell left Williams for Mercedes in 2022, Williams suddenly announced Thai driver Alex Albon to join Canadian's Nicholas Latifi next season. Albon previously raced for Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) in 2019 and Red Bull Racing in 2019 to 2020. The 25 year-old Thai driver finished in the podium twice in 2020 at Tuscan and Bahrain Grands Prix.
Constructors with unchanged line-up for 2022 season are Ferrari, Red Bull, AlphaTauri, McLaren and Alpine, as Haas yet to announce their driver changes for 2022 due their poor performance.
