Player profile: Sam Burns
Samuel H. Burns has achieved his long-time dream since turning pro in 2017: winning his first of any PGA Tour event. And at the Valspar Championship 2021 held at Innisbrook Golf Club, Palm Beach, Tampa Bay, Florida, he realised his dream of winning a PGA Tour tournament.
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana on 23 July 1996, Sam Burns was coached by his father Todd during his amateur career. He won the Rolex AJGA Player Of The Year Awards in 2014 after winning two tournaments. - Journey to his first PGA Tour win at Valspar Championship 2021
After finished 3rd place to Max Homa at the Genesis Invitational in February, Burns made his 76th PGA Tour start at Valspar Championship (29 April - 2 May) at Innisbrook Golf Club, Tampa Bay, Florida. Throughout the tournament, Burns was pressured by Homa, and Tour veteran Keegan Bradley. After three rounds of the tournament, Burns tied Bradley for the lead heading to the final round. However, Bradley made his mistake at the par-3 13th hole. Burns two-putted for par and took a two-shot lead after Bradley double-bogeyed that hole. Burns won by three shots over Bradley to capture his maiden PGA Tour win.
