10 years of Apink: Timeline from 2011 to 2021
In the past ten years, South Korean girl group Apink enjoyed their success as one of best-selling girl groups in Korea, Japan and Asia. Here are the timeline/chronology and facts of Apink's success since their debut in 2011!
1. 2011
Apink formed on April 19, 2011 with seven members: Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Yookyung, Namjoo and Hayoung. At the same day, they released their debut mini-album Seven Springs of Apink. The album consisted two lead singles "I Don't Know" and "It Girl".
In November, Apink released their 2nd mini-album Snow Pink with "My My" as the lead single. They won their first award at the 2011 Mnet Asia Music Awards under the category Best New Female Artist.
2. 2012
Apink released their first anniversary single "April 19th". The song is featured on their first studio album Une Annee released in May.
Member Eunji made her acting debut by making her lead role in the drama Reply 1997.
3. 2013
Prior to the recording of Secret Garden, A Cube (now Play M) annouced that Yookyung has parted ways with the group due to pursuing her college studies. The label later announced that Apink will continue to release and promote albums with six members.
Released in 6 July 2013, Secret Garden brought its lead single "NoNoNo" into the top of the music charts.
4. 2014
Apink's fourth mini-album Pink Blossom has brought into a significant success. The album's lead single "Mr. Chu" garnered the success by debuting at no.2 in Billboard charts.
They followed the success with their fifth mini-album Pink Luv which released in November 2014. Apink performed in Indonesia in October 2014 alongside Sistar as part of music festival.
5. 2015
Apink released their fourth anniversary single "Promise You". Later in July, the group released their 2nd studio album Pink Memory. The album became one of the best-selling albums of summer 2015 alongside SNSD's Lion Heart and Sistar's Shake It. Later on the late of that year, Apink announced their first world tour. They will toured across Asia and for the first time ever across North America.
6. 2016
Apink released their fifth anniversary single "The Wave", which also included on their third studio album Pink Revolution. Released on September, the album debuted at no. 2 in the album's chart. The album's repackage version Dear released in December that year.
Also in 2016, member Eunji made her solo debut by releasing her debut mini-album Dream.
7. 2017-2018
Apink performing at the Mercedes-Benz exhibition event in 2017.
Apink started 2017 by releasing their sixth anniversary single "Always". Later in June they released their sixth mini-album Pink Up.
Later that year, Eunji released her 2nd mini-album The Space.
In 2018, the group released their seventh anniversary single "Miracles", followed by their seventh mini-album One & Six. Eunji also released her third mini-album Hyehwa.
8. 2019-2021
Apink released their eight mini-album Percent in January 2019. Later in July, member Hayoung made her solo debut with her debut mini-album Oh!
They recorded their eighth and ninth anniversary single "Everybody Ready?" which written and composed by member Eunji, but was slated to released as part of the singles for their ninth mini-album Look which was released in April 2020. Later that year in 2020, Eunji released her fourth mini-album Simple, while Namjoo made her solo debut with her debut single "Bird". Also in 2020, Play M debuted Apink's sister girl group called Weeekly.
On March 2021, Apink launched their timeline website in conjunction with their tenth anniversary celebration. On April 19, 2021, they will release their 10th anniversary single "Thank You".
- Pre-debut facts
Apink was supposed to debut as either seven or eight member girl group with Park Chorong, Yoon Bomi, Jeong Eunji, Son Naeun, Hong Yookyung, Kim Namjoo, Oh Hayoung and Jang Sojin were on the list. However, Sojin failed to make her debut with Apink and dropped out from the member's list on the last-minute decision. According to leader Chorong, Sojin is "too young to debut".
