Khabib Nurmagomedov - the story of the undefeated champion fighter
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been unbeaten in all of his fights in his Ultimate Fighting Championship career, from his debut in January 2012, until his retirement in October 2020. The Russian also became the first muslim fighter to win UFC title (lightweight) after defeated Al Iaquinta on UFC 228 and has successfully defended the title three times.
Most controversially was UFC 229 (October 6, 2018) in his title defense against Conor McGregor, who vacated the title in early in 2018. After beating McGregor by submission, Khabib attacked McGregor's side, before being arrested by Las Vegas Police Department. As the result, Khabib and his cousin, Abubakar, were temporaily suspended from UFC for nine months, while McGregor was suspended for 6 months. Khabib and his cousin Abubakar were released from suspension in May 2019 after Russian president Vladimir Putin accepted the appeal. Khabib returned to defend his title at UFC 242 (September 7, 2019); since then, he relocated his title defense fights to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

After defended his UFC lightweight title on UFC 254, Khabib announced that he would be retiring from his mixed martial arts career, after his father and fighting mentor, Abdulmanap, died on July 3, 2020.
