What makes karting career developement drove to Formula 1 stardom?
Karting has been part of learning tools of future Formula 1 drivers since the sport's inception in 1950. Although the official karting commision named CIK (International Commisssion of Karting) was established in 1962, karting has made positive impact for producing future Formula 1 stars. Formula 1's greatest ever world champions including Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, and Nico Rosberg have enjoyed their big success in their own karting careers respectively before becoming the Formula 1 world champion in the future.
1. National karting championships
There are some countries which held the annual national karting championship in their own countries. In the U.K. for example: Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton, Anthony Davidson, Jenson Button and David Coulthard were the most successful drivers who have won most national championship titles. Only Mansell, Hill, Hamilton and Button who go on to win Formula 1 world titles in the future.
2. World karting championships
The inaugural world karting championship was held in 1964 with Italy's Guido Sala as the inaugural champion. British driver Callum Bradshaw is the most recent champion. British driver Mike Wilson has most world titles won (six times).
