The year of Rory (again) at Augusta

Augusta, GA – Rory Daniel McIlroy for the second consecutive time in his career conquered Augusta National once again to retain his green jacket in the 90th Masters. The 36 year-old Northern Irishman fends off the pressure from his rivalry against world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler who also attempted to reclaim his third career green jacket (both McIlroy and Scheffler are husbands and fathers too). With the win, McIlroy became the second European (and non-American) golfer to win back-to-back Masters since Sir Nick Faldo in 1989 and 1990.

For McIlroy, this second green jacket is perhaps dedicated to his daughter Poppy, who ever dreamed to play at Augusta National in the specialized Augusta National Women's Amateur tournament if she (Poppy) will graduate from high school. As for Scheffler, there's still much more battle between him and McIlroy (the top two in OWGR) until the remainder of 2026 season (with three upcoming majors PGA, U.S. Open and British Open, with McIlroy already had completed career grand slam last year, while Scheffler yet to complete it at U.S. Open).
