2024 MTV Video Music Awards winners Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan have six nominations respectively; both Swift, Carpenter and Roan are in the Song, Record and Album Of The Year major fixtures. Carpenter and Roan (both from Island Records) are the first-time Grammy nominees; while Carpenter herself became the fourth Disney Channel star to become Grammy nominee after Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo; the latter Rodrigo herself has only got a single nomination for 2025 Grammys (Best Song Written In Visual Media) for her song "Can't Catch Me Now" from The Hunger Games V movie soundtrack.
- Carpenter's 2025 Grammy nods
Two of Carpenter's lead singles from her Short n' Sweet album, "Espresso" and "Please Please Please" were nominated in three different categories; "Espresso" received Grammy Award nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance; while "Please Please Please" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards/GRAMMYs. Carpenter's Short n' Sweet album itself contend against the likes of Swift's Tortured Poets Department, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, Eilish's Hit Me Hard And Soft and XCX's Brat for Album Of the Year honors.
Carpenter is not only a nominee for its major Song, Album and Record Of The Year honors, but the 25 year-old "Espresso" sensation is also nominated in other three main categories such as Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal album. With those nominations, Carpenter became the first Disney Channel star to achieve multiple nods in one night; and if she will win both of them on February 2, Carpenter will become the first Disney Channel star in history to win more than three Grammys in one night.
- Voting process
Final round voting will then take place from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025, ahead of winners being revealed during the Grammy Premiere Ceremony and telecast on February 2.
