In this article, we will bring you profile of Canadian actress Malia Baker, another young actress who will also star in Descendants: Rise Of Red, where she stars as Chloe Charming, daughter of Prince Charming and younger sister to Chad. Here is a profile of Malia Baker.
- Life and career
Malia was born on December 18, 2006, in Botswana. She's raised from Canadian family. Baker had only begun acting classes one year prior to winning her series regular role through Netflix's North American-wide search. She has also appeared in the TV series A Million Little Things and The Flash, as well as Hallmark’s TV movie, Hope at Christmas. Baker is also an avid reader and writer and would like the opportunity to use her "arts and her smarts so that she is able to be a role model for younger bi-racial youth and girls in general". She portrayed Mary Anne Spier in the first and second season of The Baby-Sitters Club on Netflix.
Baker made her acting debut in Hope at Christmas, a TV movie in which she was uncredited. She then went on to have her first TV role featuring in one episode of ABC's A Million Little Things, a family drama television series created by DJ Nash. In 2019, she also featured in an episode of The CW's superhero television series, The Flash. As well as appearing in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
- Breakthrough
In 2020, Baker starred in season 1 of 2020 revival of 1990 Disney Channel series The Baby-Sitters Club on Netflix, as Mary Anne Spier. She returned to the role in the second season of the show in 2021, before its cancelation. She also featured in season 2 of Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?'s second revival series. Baker also featured in Lifetime TV movie, Caught in His Web. She was then cast in Disney's Descendants: The Rise of Red, as well as Miramax dramedy Harvest Moon, co-written and starring Paul Bettany. In addition, she was also cast in Spider & Jessie alongside Mckenna Grace, and Dacre Montgomery, and in drama Thena. All of which are currently in post-production.
She defended Catherine Hernandez's novel Scarborough in the 2022 edition of Canada Reads.
