a. F1 U.S. Grand Prix - Verstappen victorious again in COTA as he dedicated to late Red Bull co-founder
AUSTIN, TX – Two-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen won the incident-packed United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The Red Bull Racing driver dedicated the win to late Red Bull Energy Drink co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz who passed away on Saturday, October 22. The win is so special for Verstappen and the entire Red Bull Racing team who sealed their fifth constructors' title for the first time since 2013 (Sebastian Vettel era).

Mercedes-AMG Monster Energy Petronas driver Sir Lewis Hamilton finished 2nd in the race, continuing the British driver's podium streak at COTA. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished third after his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. retired following his opening lap collision with George Russell (Mercedes) with Russell continued racing to finish fifth with a five-second penalty. Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) scored his final points in USA in his final year in F1, making the German the all-time top-scoring driver in U.S. GP since his debut in 2007. Vettel's teammate Lance Stroll and Alpine's Fernando Alonso were penalized for mid-race collision.

b. McIlroy wins CJ Cup, reclaims world no. 1 ranking to end Scheffler's reign
GILLISONVILE, SC – Rory McIlroy won back-to-back CJ Cup title (23rd career PGA Tour win) after winning by one stroke over Kurt Kitayama at Congaree Golf Club. The Northern Irishman who won his third FedEx Cup title in August, returns to his no. 1 status, ending Scottie Scheffler's 30-week reign. This became McIlroy's ninth reign as world no. 1, his previous (eighth) reign was ended in July 2020 when being took over by Jon Rahm.
