2022 PGA Championship preview and criteria

TULSA, OK – The 2022 PGA Championship will be the 104th PGA Championship, to be held from May 19–22 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event was originally intended to be played at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.

Phil Mickelson, two-time and defending champion, will miss this major championship due to his family business. Tiger Woods, four-time PGA champion, last won at Southern Hills back in 2007, is looking for his record-equaling five Wanamaker Trophy, which achieved by Walter Hagen during match play era (1916-1957) and Jack Nicklaus in recent stroke play era (1958-present).

Current world number one player, Scottie Scheffler, is looking for back-to-back major titles following his Masters' triumph last April at Augusta National. Meanwhile, another Texan, Jordan Spieth, is also aiming to complete his career grand slam at PGA Championship. Spieth had won three other majors (The Masters, U.S. Open and British Open); his best finish at PGA Championship was 2nd in 2015 at Whistling Straits.
