2022 Masters Tournament ‐ Scheffler's Augusta dream is realised
AUGUSTA, GA – In 2005, nine year-old Scottie Scheffler witnessed Tiger Woods' victorious birdie hole-out at 16th hole of Augusta National, and told his dad "I wanna win that green jacket". As part of University of Texas Longhorns golf team, Scheffler once told by his coach that winning the green jacket is a must dream come true.
And on April 10, 2022, the dream has realised.
Scheffler replicates his idol Jordan Spieth's 2015 performance or Ben Crenshaw's 1984 and 1995's triumph to become another Texan winner at the 86th running of the Masters Tournament. This also became his maiden major title, even after his reign as world no.1 began after winning WGC-Matchplay. In fact, Scheffler, similar to Spieth, also won the Masters in his 2nd outing at Augusta National.
With the green jacket already on his bag, Scheffler's hunt for his next major title continues, as he looks forward to win the Wanamaker Trophy (PGA Championship) on May at Southern Hills, the U.S. Open at Brookline, and the Claret Jug (British Open) at home of golf (St. Andrews).
