Safety cars for 2022 motorsports season

The 2022 motorsports season is about to commence, but behind its excitement, safety is priority. That's how the safety cars came into every races to warn drivers/riders from dangerous behavior. Bernd Maylander has been famously drove safety cars in F1 for over 25 years. But today here are the review of 2022 safety cars in motorsport season.

1. Mercedes-AMG
Mercedes-AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz officially supplied the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series as the safety car (replacing GT R) and Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4MATIC as the medical car (replacing C63 S) for 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season. Both cars are powered by twin-turbocharged 4,0 liter V8 engine, as GT Black Series produced more than 725 hp and 800 Nm power output; while the medical car GT63 S produced more than 640 hp and 900 Nm power.

"I've already had the chance to test this amazing vehicle many times and I’m simply blown away by how close it is to a thoroughbred race car." said Maylander.

"It really is a major step compared to last year’s GT R – which was already at an extremely high level. To have a workplace like this in the name of safety is a dream come true."

2. BMW M
BMW has been supplied FIM MotoGP safety and medical cars since 2003. And for 2022, BMW M will supply BMW M8 Competition as the safety car and BMW X5M Competition as medical car. Both cars also powered with twin-turbocharged 4,0 liter V8 engines both rated at 620 hp and 800 Nm power output. In addition, the turbocharged 440 hp V6 BMW M2 CS safety car will be the secondary safety car used for Asian and Argentinian rounds only.
