Hamilton made shocking social media return since Abu Dhabi GP title loss
LONDON – Sir Lewis Hamilton made a surprising social media return by posting his photo at the Grand Canyon, captioned "I've been gone, now I'm back!"
The Mercedes driver lost the 2021 Formula One world title to Red Bull's Max Verstappen by eight points at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after Nicholas Latifi's crash that brought into safety car ruined his 8th world title. This was the 2nd time the British driver lost the world title as a Mercedes driver; he previously lost the title to his former teammate Nico Rosberg in 2016.
The FIA is currently further investigating the final lap incident between Hamilton and Verstappen, and will be finalized at least two days before the raceday of the 2022 season opener at Bahrain Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Hamilton and his new teammate George Russell are plan to launch their constructor's new car for 2022, the W13, which is set to be launched on February 18.
