2021 Women's British Open - Nordqvist claims third career major win in a dramatic fashion

Anna Nordqvist ends her four-year slump to claim her third career major title at Women's British Open in Carnoustie Golf Club, Scotland on Sunday, August 22. It became the Swede's third major title win, having won the Women's PGA in 2009 and Evian Championship in 2017, as well as her ninth career LPGA Tour win.

During the final round, Nordqvist (34) was pressured by her fellow compatriot Madelene Sagstrom, Denmark's Nanna Koertz Madsen and America's Lizette Salas. Through 14th hole, Madsen leads Nordqvist by one, but the Dane bogeyed the 15th hole and tied Nordqvist for the lead after Salas bogeyed the 16th hole. Nordqvist and Madsen still tied at 12 under par into final hole, however Madsen's 2nd shot found the bunker, allowing Nordqvist to hit the green. After Madsen double bogeyed the 18th, Nordqvist eventually two-putted for par to secure her third major title.

"I think it's the most special one" said Nordqvist. "Just because it's taken me a couple of years and I fought so hard and questioned whether I was doing right things."
