History of Idol Star Athletics Championships
As 2020 Olympic Games currently get going from July 23 to August 8, 2021, here in this article, we talk about the Idol Star Athletics Championship which is also called as the "idols' Olympic Games".
The Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC) is annually contested in South Korea since its inaugural edition in 2010 and participated by over hundreds of K-pop boy and girl groups as well as male and female soloists. The sports contested in the ISAC are mostly similar to all sports competed in Olympics (except golf, court tennis, weight-lifting and badminton) with E-sports being added in 2019, but since 2016, all sports contested in ISAC adopted the official Olympic Games' rules and regulations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to make the competition more excited to watch.
- Broadcast
The ISAC is currently airing on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) in South Korea since 2010. In the U.S., the ISAC was aired on USA Network from 2014 until 2017, as NBC Sports (which is also held rights as the Olympic Games' official broadcaster) currently airing the ISAC events since 2018 New Year's Special ISAC. CBS Sports formerly provided the ISAC covearge in the U.S. from 2012 until 2014. In early 2020, FOX Sports 1 (FS1) in the U.S. aired every single events of ISAC from 2010 until 2019 Chuseok Special, in the show called "The Best of Idol Star Athletics Championships (2010-2019)".
Gugudan have broke and set any record in every women's sport they competed (including archery) as of 2020.
