2021 Open Championship - Morikawa keeps his calm to win 2nd major title

Collin Morikawa's rise to golf stardom continues as the 24 year-old American takes his 2nd major title at the 149th Open Championship in Royal St. George's Golf Club, Sandwich, England. It became his 2nd major title after winning the Wanamaker Trophy at last year's PGA Championship in TPC Harding Park 11 months ago.

Prior to his Open Championship debut which he qualified after winning his maiden PGA Tour win in 2019 Barracuda Championship, Morikawa started his 2021 season by earning five top-10 finishes including a win at the WGC-Workday Championship.

Morikawa's journey to raise the Claret Jug is not as easy as his 2020 PGA Championship's triumph. Morikawa shot 67 in the opening round and shot three strokes better (64) in second round. Morikawa entered the final round trailing Louis Oosthuizen by one. With contenders like Oosthuizen, Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm keeping the pressure on Morikawa, but Morikawa holds his nerves by scoring a bogey-free final round 66.

With the win, Morikawa jumped into top-5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and leads both PGA Tour's FedEx Cup and European Tour's Race To Dubai standings.
