2021 Azerbaijan GP: The factors behind Hamilton and Verstappen's non-points scoring race at Baku

For the first time since 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, both top two contenders failed to score points at the chaotic 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix which won by Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) on Sunday, 6 June 2021. Championship leader Max Verstappen crashed out while leading the race with six laps remaining to win the race. This became the 23-year-old Dutchman's first DNF since last year's Sakhir GP. According to FIA Race Control, Verstappen suffered rear tire puncture which caused his car crashed into the wall at 310 km/h (192 mph). The similar issue also happened to Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) on lap 32. FIA and tyre supplier Pirelli will have further investigation regarding Verstappen and Stroll's tire incidents.
Verstappen walked away after crashed out from the Azerbaijan GP race.

As the race restarted with three laps remaining, Hamilton attempted to overtake Perez, but the Mercedes driver braked his car hardly at Turn 1, forcing him out of the track and lost multiple positions. This left Perez to win the race with Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) completed the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Hamilton himself unable to score points after finished 15th behind the two Haas drivers Nikita Mazepin (14th) and Mick Schumacher (13th).
Hamilton made crucial mistake at the restart of the race, forcing him to not scoring points after finished 15th.
