How well did Sharon Myoui struggle against anxiety disorder?


Sharon Myoui, better known as her stage name Mina, has successfully recovered from anxiety disorder which caused her to miss the rest of Twice's concert tour Twicelights World Tour in 2019. The Japanese-American singer who debuted with girl group Twice in 2015 was announced by JYP Entertainment on 11 July 2019 that she was diagnosed with extreme anxiety disorder. Then, in September 2019, it was also reported that Mina will unable to join the promotion of Twice's mini-album Feel Special due to her recovery from anxiety disorder, despite taking part of the album's production. The previous month in August 2019, Mina lost her American citizenship after holding the dual Japanese and American citizenships two years earlier in 2017.

Mina successfully recovered from anxiety disorder on February 2020 after recieved treatments and therapies for recovery from anxiety disorder which took five months of the process, and she is able to rejoin the promotion of Twice's albums More & More, #Twice3 and Eyes Wide Open. Her fellow member Jeongyeon was also diagnosed with the similar disorder in September 2020, which she (Jeongyeon) quickly recovered from that disorder in January 2021. As the result, Jeongyeon was unable to join the promotion for Twice's album Eyes Wide Open.

Mina is not only the female singer who diagnosed and recovered from the anxiety disorder; other popular female singers such as Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Adele Adkins, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga have also experienced the similar disorder as well; while Mariah Carey and Britney Spears have experienced the bipolar disorder which is typical with anxiety disorder.
