Act.5 New Action - the story behind Gugudan's final EP
Act.5 New Action was Gugudan's final ever EP released on 6 November 2018. Released by Jellyfish Entertainment, it became the only album since Hyeyeon's departure from the group in late October 2018. It also became their 2nd album being recorded as eight-member line-up, the other being Act.3 Chococo Factory (2017) when Soyee missed the single's production due to her recovery from the shoulder injury. It became Gugudan's final ever EP before their disbandment on 30 December 2020.
- Recording and production
Recording of the six songs from their EP Act.5 New Action took place between late September to early October 2018. Sejeong co-wrote the song from the EP titled "Dear".
- Jacket photo
Gugudan took their jacket photo shooting on October 17, 2018. For the EP's concept, Gugudan choose the sexy and chic "girl crush" style in two modes: black and colorful. During the photoshoot, Gugudan members shown their own mature images through the EP's concept
- Music video
The filming for "Not That Type" music video took place on October 25, 2018.
- Promotion
Gugudan performed the album's lead single "Not That Type" and its B-side "Be Myself" in various music programs for two weeks.
