Is Coldplay the band's only name since their first gig?

British rock group Coldplay have been recognized as one of the highest selling groups of all-time since their first album Parachutes released in 2000. Since then, the four members (Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion) have released numerous of most successful albums: A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2002), X&Y (2005), Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full Of Dreams (2015), and more recently Everyday Life (2019).

But the only question that is still became mystery: Is Coldplay the band's only name since the start of their career?

Coldplay was not the band's original name. The group was firstly called as Pectoralz in 1996 to 1997 (and later Starfish in 1998), when Chris met his fellow collegemates Jonny, Guy and Will to form a band. Mentioned in the band's documentary film A Head Full Of Dreams (2018), the group performed their early local gigs under the names of either Pectoralz (1996-1997) or Starfish (1998), before changing their name into Coldplay in 1999. The band never released any of extended plays or singles as Pectoralz or Starfish, making an unsuccessful campaign, before Coldplay became even more successful in the later years.
