Who (would be) Coldplay's opening act performer in Jakarta?

JAKARTA – With less than one month ahead from Coldplay's first ever long-awaited concert in Jakarta as part of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour on November 15, 2023, here are some of Indonesian bands or musicians who will be the opening act performers for the concert (after singer Rahmania Astrini confirmed to be opening act performer in June 2023) [with the exception of SLANK which too old].

1. Dewa 19
Dewa 19 is a band currently consist of Ahmad Dhani, Andra Ramadhan, Yuke Sampurna and Agung Yudha, with Marcello Tahitoe and Virzha currently serving as guest vocals. Their debut album, consist of hit single "Kangen" released in 1992. Ari Lasso was the lead vocalist of the band from 1992 until 1998, when he was departed for his solo endavor. Ari then replaced by Onche Mekel from 2000 until 2011. Dewa 19 had similar concept of Coldplay during 2000s with alternative rock genres; in 2000 both bands released Parachutes and Bintang Lima respectively; then in 2002, both released "The Scientist" and "Pupus" respectively, which were the best love songs of that year.

2. Padi
Padi is another Indonesian band who had early similar success and style as Coldplay. Their single "Rapuh" (similarly to Coldplay's "The Scientist") became the top-hitter. However, formation changes put the band in hiatus since 2016.

3. Armada
Armada is one of successful Indonesian band known for their singles "Buka Hati", "Mau Di Bawa Kemana" and "Pemilik Hati", the latter which is similar to Coldplay's hit "In My Place".

4. Kotak
Kotak is one of Indonesian band which two of four members are women. The band's lead singer is a woman named Tantry since their 2nd album in 2008. Another female member, known as Chua serves as bassist.

5. NOAH
Noah (previously known as Peterpan from 2002 until 2010) is another hit Indonesian rock band. Inspired from Coldplay's style, the band from Bandung, Western Java produced some of their hit albums, such as Bintang Di Surga, Hari Yang Cerah, Seperti Seharusnya, and more recently One Second Chance. The band took hiatus for two years from 2010 until 2012, after Nazril, the band's frontman was imprisoned for four years due to his sex scandals, but went on to early parole in 2012.

6. D'Masiv
D'masiv is a Indonesian rock band known for their singles "Cinta Ini Membunuhku", "Di Antara Kalian", and "Jangan Menyerah". The band's lead vocalist is Ryan Ekky.

7. The Changcuters
Changcuters is the Indonesian rockband using a classic but comedy concept similar to the Beatles and Rolling Stones.

8. UNGU
Ungu is the popular Indonesian band that currently in hiatus after their lead vocalist Sigit 'Pasha' Purnomo became city mayor in Palu, Southern Sulawesi since 2016. The band's current line-up is Pasha as vocalist, Enda and Onchy as guitarists, Rowman as drummer and Makki as bass guitarist.

9. Nidji
Nidji is another Indonesian band that inspired from Coldplay. The band's lead vocalist, Giring, has similar singing voice with Chris Martin, but Giring left the band in 2017 due to his political career.

10. Sheila On 7
Sheila On 7 is another Indonesian rock band that gain success in mid 2000s. The band currently consists of Eros Tjandra, Duta, and Adam.
