Indonesian female singers who currently became popular abroad
Today, some Indonesian singers had gain more popularities after living abroad. For example, Agnes Monica (also known as Agnez Mo) who lived in USA since 2011 started to release her English album outside Indonesia in 2012; or Anggun C. Sasmi who lived in France since 1999 to release her English or French-language albums and toured across Europe.
In this article, I will give you profiles of three young Indonesian female singers who currently enjoyed their success outside their country.
1. NIKI
Niki (born in Jakarta as Nicole Zefanya on January 24, 1999) is an Indonesian female singer-songwriter who lived in United States since 2018. Niki began her fame when she performed as an opening act for Taylor Swift's Red Tour concert in Jakarta in 2013. Niki once said that Taylor is her favorite singer whom she inspired from. Since then, Niki began her music career by performing covers of her favorite songs.
After graduating from senior high school in Jakarta in 2017, Niki moved to Nashville, Tennessee to study music at Lipscomb University. Since then, Niki signed with Asian-American record label 88RISING, where she released her originally-composed albums and singles. Niki's debut studio album which featured two singles was released in October 2020. In 2021, NIKI released soundtrack for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Shang-Chi, titled "Every Summertime". More recently in 2022, Niki released her latest single "High School In Jakarta" upon the release of her upcoming 2nd album.
Niki Zefanya is a biggest fan of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, and MCU Spider-Man actress Zendaya. Niki cited Taylor as her influence for singing-songwriting, and Zendaya for acting.

Stephanie Poetri (born in Jakarta on May 20, 2000) is an Indonesian female singer songwriter who currently lives in United States. Her mother, Titi DJ, is a popular female musician, singer songwriter who had involved in a diva rivalry against Melly Goeslow, Krisdayanti and Rossa in 2000s.
Stephanie Poetri signed with 88RISING alongside Rich Brian (Brian Imannuel) and Niki (Nicole Zefanya) in 2018, and in 2019, her debut single "I Love You 3000" became more popular in American and Indonesian hit music radios.
3. Dita Karang
Dita Karang (born in Bali on December 25, 1996) is an Indonesian female singer who lives in South Korea. She's currently a member of a multinational girl group Secret Number since debuted in 2020.
